The third TRICAP (ThRee-way methods In Chemistry and Psychology, formerly TRIC) meeting took place at Hvedholm Castle in the middle of Denmark. The TRICAP meetings focus on methods for analyzing 3- and higher order data tables originating mainly from chemical and psychological sciences.

Goal of the Meeting

As the other TRICAP meetings, TRICAP 2000 brought together top-level researchers from the fields of chemometrics and psychometrics. Other disciplines that develop and conduct research in multi-way data analysis are also invited. The goal is to provide a relaxed atmosphere for the participants to allow for free exchange of ideas. It is not a forum for users or practitioners, but the TRICAP meeting is intended to provide an intimate atmosphere for the researchers to communicate, solve common problems and gain inspiration to initiate new projects. The conference was designed to maintain a leisurely pace with plenty of time for presentation of ideas and discussion.

Authors were asked to submit one (A4) page with an abstract of their proposed talk to the conference chair. See lists of abstracts here.

Location and Travel

TRICAP 2000 was held at Hvedholm Castle at the south-west of the large island, Funen. Funen is located in the middle of the Danish Kingdom as seen on this map. The island Funen is located in the middle of Denmark and this is where the city Odense of Hans Christian Andersen is also found. Denmark being the oldest existing kingdom in the world is a small Scandinavian country with rich opportunities for those interested in culture, art, history, nature etc. 
The castle Hvedholm has belonged to the same family from the time when Funen was an independent kingdom and up to our century. The building dates back to 1570, but was rebuilt in its present majestic style around 1880 by count Bille Brahe Selby. With 5,000 m2 the castle is one of Denmark’s largest. The 10 ha park has a few old plane trees mentioned in some of Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tales. There is a magnificent view to the Funen Archipelago. The nearest international airport is Copenhagen Airport (Kastrup Lufthavn) just outside Copenhagen 180 km from Hvedholm Castle. It is easy to drive by car from the airport (approx. 2 hours) to the Castle in Faaborg. Another possibility is to take the train from the airport (approx. 2.5 hours), where you will have to change train in Odense. You can plan train-traveling at the Danish National Railroads, DSB . If you have problems figuring out how to get to Hvedholm Castle in Faaborg, please contact the TRICAP conference secretariat.

Shuttle service will be provided from Faaborg Station and Odense Station to Hvedholm Castle on Sunday, July 16, and for the return trips on Friday, July 21. We need people to inform the TRICAP conference secretariat of their arrival at any of the two pick-up points. Make sure to get a confirmation.

Conference Facilities and Lodging

The hotel has 120 beds in 7 suites, 23 rooms with canopy beds, 11 standard rooms and 4 "hikers’ rooms". The a la carte restaurant, specializing in fish and game, is among the region’s leading. The banqueting hall from 1880 takes 150 covers. The "Mirror Salon" from 1750 takes 110 covers, and annexing small salons are used for coffee, etc. The castle has 7 conference rooms. Wine cellar and shop are open Saturdays from 12 noon – 4 p.m. Nearby facilities/activities: Faaborg with maritime and picturesque environment, golf and beach. The rooms are offered in the period of Sunday 16th (after 13.00 o'clock) to Friday 21st (until 11 o'clock).

An overhead projector will be provided. Inform the TRICAP conference secretariat if further presentation equipment is needed.

Conference Agenda

Conference lectures will be given in the Hall of Knights. Coffee breaks and informal meetings will be held in the Hall of Mirrors. Room 101 will be the conference secretariat and late-night meeting room. Ample opportunity will be given for informal meetings.
